Do you have a planet in the Gandanta Zone : In Vedic Astrology this is where a water sign gives way to a fire sign?

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

Gandanta is an evil condition affecting planets close to the transition point from a water sign to a fires sign in Vedic Astrology, damaging the manifestation of the planet in the life of the individual.

These are the Vedic sign transition points: Pisces to Aries, Cancer to Leo and Scorpio to Sagittarius.

I specialise in this issue, and you would benefit from a reading from me if you have a planet in one of these zones: see my astrology readings website: http://www.starwheelastrology.com/ or join my Vedic Astrology course: http://www.mastervedicastrology.com/

Immediately in assessing this issue, we come up against an issue of definition of the term Gandanta:

I take the view that any planet (or Ascendant/Lagna placed in the last two degrees of a water sign or the first two degrees of a fire sign is detrimentally affected by that position, and the closer the planet is to the actual transition point, the worse the effect. My own Moon is at 29 deg 56 Pisces, which is very severe Gandanta. See: http://www.mastervedicastrology.com/gandanta.html

gandanta zoneBasically a Gandanta planet in the birth chart exposes the person to weakness and downfall, though the position can be very good for spiritual realisation.

gandanta 4Basically the problem is that the position exposes the person to the perception that the physical/material psycho-mental realm we call this world is unreal, that it is Maha Maya the Great Illusion. The perception generated in the tiny infant is that the true Reality lies beyond or beneath this world.

shiva shakti 2In Hinduism that true reality is called the creative mating of Shiva-Shakti.

In Buddhism it is called The Void. In other mystical spiritual paths it is called the Ground of All Being, for example.
Being born in the Gandanta Zone means that the person will have Ketu Dasa (Ketu predictive period) dominating their childhood. To be exposed to Ketu Dasa as a tiny infant means things like being born in an isolation hospital, being homeless for one’s first five years, being placed in an orphanage, being exposed to dereliction of parenting – all of these varying in severity depending on how exact is the Gandanta placement of the planet, especially Moon or Sun.

Kali Skanda ValeWorse than that, if the planet, especially Moon or Sun is in the last degree of the water Sign, especially if the planet is in the last few minutes of the water sign, a worse complication arises. This is that the child will actually experience a change of Dasa at an age too tender for him to be able to cope with such a change.

If the child is born in the closing minutes of the last degree of the water sign, he will be born into Mercury Dasa, transitioning soon into Ketu Dasa.

Having my natal Moon at 29 deg 56 Pisces, I myself was born at the very end of Mercury Dasa transitioning at age six weeks into Ketu Dasa, at which date I was placed in a convent orphanage. Worse that that, Mercury in my birth Chart is ruler of the 12th House of Loss.

You can work through your lifetime to heal and empower any planet that is in the Gandanta Zone in your birth chart, though the closer the planet is to the transition point the harder such healing is. See the healing methods I use detailed on my websites.

However it is crucial to note that such healing and empowerment cannot apply if it is the Moon that is in the Gandanta Zone. If you have Gandanta Moon this is a karmic knot around the issue of mothering, and the more you try to do anything to actively resolve it, the more the knot tightens; you have to learn to live with it and somehow manage your mind around its constant presence. Gandanta Moon means that Mother will not be there for you.

Just a further point: if the Gandanta Moon is in the 9th House of Father, as mine is, it will also mean that in some way Father will not be there for you, either.

Some Vedic Astrologers take the view that the Gandanta zone starts at 29 deg 12 of the three water signs: Pisces, Cancer and Jyestha, in other words at the end of nakshatras: Pisces, Ashlesha and Jyestha. In this strict definition the Gandanta extends to 00 deg 48 of the following fire sign.

However, James Braha Ancient Hindu Astrology for the Modern Western Astrologer, page 341, takes the broader view that Gandanta is the range two degrees either side of the transition point from a water sign to a fire sign. Braha describes Gandanta as: ‘An Evil condition…often causes death to an Indian child if other horoscope conditions are greatly afflicted.’

Most Vedic astrologers state that any planet occupying the Gandanta zone is deleteriously affected by it. However, Braha tends to use Gandanta only for Moon or Lagna placed in these degrees.

Of course there is also a separate type of Gandanta in Moon Phase or ‘Panchanga’ as well, also called ‘Tithi Gandanta’.

I have come across many Indian astrologers who use the last four and first four degrees as indicative of Gandanta: I disagree with this.

However, the key thing to note is that the closer to the sign divide the Gandanta is, the stronger the disastrous or challenging events it foretells.

Personally, based on my chart: my experience over years of living with it and years of being a Vedic Astrologer, I would most definitely tend to accept James Braha’s definition, but I would also definitely say that for the fullest Gandanta effect, the planet must be situated between 29 deg 12 of the three water signs: Pisces, Cancer and Jyestha, in other words at the end of nakshatras (lunar signs): Pisces, Ashlesha and Jyestha AND THAT the Gandanta extends to 00 deg 48 of the following fire sign.

A special extra feature in Relationships Astrology Readings by Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

I offer expert relationships astrology readings that have the very special feature that they combine western with Vedic relationship astrology.

Just one of the special features of Vedic Astrology is that it has a system of scoring how strong or weak each sign is in you Vedic birth chart. It’s called the Ashtakavarga system.

This Ashtakavarga system can be applied to your natal astrology: it shows how well each planet will manifest in your life, drawing on a very special extra dimension of astrological analysis in this way.

It can also be applied to predictive astrology because it shows how strong or weak a sign is in your Vedic birth chart through which a transit is going to occur (so if the sign is high scored in your chart then the transit will be easier, but if that sign is low scored in your chart when the transit will be tough, and you can prepare and hear how to work with this as outlined in my reading

loversAnd the Ashtakavarga system can also be applied to relationships astrology as well.

The ideal is that the man has a high Ashtakavarga score in the signs where the woman’s Moon and Ascendant (Lagna) fall, so that he can strongly support her.

love coupleAnd the ideal is also of course that the woman should have a high Ashtakavarga score where her man’s Moon and Ascendant (Lagna) fall, so she can support him as well!

Also it is a great bonus if there’s another factor as well:
This is that the man has a high score in any sign where the woman has a low score so he can support her.
And also that the woman has a high score in any sign where the man has a low score so she can support him.

So, this is the benefit of the Ashtakavarga system applied to relationships astrology; it reveals a lot of secret dimensions to your relationship. Get one of my readings.

Find out the situation that applies to your relationship. Hear from me how to deal with it.

So, how does the Ashtakavarga chart work?

vedic-astrology-chart-south-indianWell, if you want to go into the detail a bit, here’s what the Vedic birth chart looks like (South Indian style):

So, to orientate you, you can see that the sign names are shown in the following sequence along the top row is: Pisces, Aries, Taurus and Gemini.

So to look more at your Ashtakavarga scores, vasically I give you a special variant of this basic chart: your Ashtakavarga chart. Your Ashtakavarag chart shows you the Ashtakavarga score for each sign: for each sign for the man and another chart which shows the Ashtakavaraga chart and within it the scores for each sign the woman.

Let’s look at an example couple:

Michael RashiHere’s an example of the Man’s Vedic birth chart.

And here’s an example of the man’s Ashtakavarga chart:

Maggie Rashi chartNext, here’s the woman’s Vedic birth chart.

Maggie Sarvashtakavarga chartAnd here’s the woman’s Ashtakavaraga chart.

Let’s compare the two of them. We see that this is a good relationship chart.
For example, the man has reasonable score (32 points) where the woman’s Moon is (Vedic Aries).
The woman has a reasonable score (33 points) where the man’s moon is (Vedic Pisces).

So, once I have given you these two charts, and this is just one very small part in one of my worldwide astrology readings, what we do next is note which of your signs have low scores and which of your signs have high scores.
Then we note which of your partner’s signs have low scores and which of your partner’s signs have high scores.
Then we cross-compare the two charts:
We note whether you are supporting his/her Moon and Ascendant.
And we also note whether your partner’s weak houses get support because those are your strong houses.
If the scores comparison show up problems, the great benefit is that then I can help you.
I teach an exceptionally wide range of ways to deal with this sort of issue. I relate to healing modalities, mantra techniques, art work, embodiment work, empowerment techniques, even shamanic healing techniques.

There is an important implication for the couple’s prediction. Notice from the example charts above that the man has a very low score in Vedic Aquarius (22 points), but the woman has 31 points in Vedic Aquarius. This low score for the man in Vedic Aquarius means that the man could be expected to experience transits through Vedic Aquarius in a tough way, but the good news for this relationship is that the woman will be able to support him through that time period.

N.B. You have to use the Vedic signs (which use the Sidereal zodiac), not the Western signs (which use the tropical zodiac).

What are the days each month when our Mind/emotions might be very supported – or else unstable?

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

People have asked me how they can find information as to days when our Mind/emotions might be very supported – or else unstable.

This is one of the many special features you receive from me in my expert Astrology Readings which always combine western with Vedic Astrology and also can link to healing and empowerment work.

wild manThe daily position of the Moon is a very big factor in our mental stability, our mood, our success or failure in life, love and work – though of course it is not the only factor!

So, how does this work?

Well, the Moon stays in the same sign in Vedic Astrology for two and a half days at a time, then it moves on to the next sign, and so on through all 12 signs, taking a month to complete the full round.

Vedic Astrology has a system of scoring the strength of each sign in your Vedic birth chart called the Ashtakavarga system.

If the Moon is in one of your low score signs for any two and a half day period, then that’s a challenge.

But if the Moon is in one of your high score signs for the two and a half day period, then you will feel buoyant and supported.

vedic-astrology-chart-south-indianHere’s what the Vedic birth chart looks like (South Indian style).

So, to orientate you, you can see that the sign names are shown in the following sequence along the top row is: Pisces, Aries, Taurus and Gemini.

What your individual and personal Moon Ashtakavarag chart does is give a score for the strength of each of these 12 signs.

So, once I have given you this chart (as just one small part in one of my astrology readings), what you do now is note which of your signs have low scores and which of your signs have high scores.

N.B. You have to use the Vedic signs (which use the Sidereal zodiac), not the Western signs (which use the tropical zodiac).

Right: next step: the Moon takes a month to go round the heavens.

Low score days: Note that during the two and a half days per each month while the Moon is in a Vedic sign with a low score in your Moon Ashtakavarga chart, you will be more likely to experience mental fluctuations and instabilities of the mind, also fears and obsessions and mental unsupportedness,.

A low score is 3 or under. A score of 2 is not easy, 1 is bad and 0 is seriously unstable for the mind/emotions.

High score days: The maximum score is 8 points. A score of 6 to 8 points will feel like you are buoyant and your mind well supported.

Just having this perception and being able to check up on the Moon’s position in the lunar calendar is very helpful. It’s like receiving a weather forecast.

But knowing that you could be in for a bad two and a half days for the stability and best functioning of your mind, what do you do about it?

Well, Mantra is good for stabilising the mind.

But I also teach wonderfil inspiring links to healing modalities, to art work, embiodiment work and to various shamanic techniques as well.

And how do you find which Vedic sign the Moon is occupying on any given day?

Well, you can use an on-line ephemeris for vedic astrology.

But this information about the effect of the Moon’s position on the stability of your mind is  but just one tiny part of the wonderful insight you will receive from me in one of my Readings.

The best relationships astrology combines Vedic (Indian) astrology with Western Astrology. You need both!

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

Western relationship astrology on its own is not good enough to give a declaration of relationships compatibility between a couple.

What you actually need is a skilled relationships astrology reading that combines both western AND Vedic astrology.
My relationships astrology readings are exceptional in that they do just that. The advice you are offered is so sound.

Western relationship astrology is wrong to focus on Sun signs of the couple. Western relationships astrology also tends to produce meaningless lists of: ‘planets in houses’, planets in signs’ and aspects between the planets of the couple, with no guidance on how to make sense of it all.

Vedic astrology on the other hand does a deep and powerful analysis and sure declaration of the different facets of the relationship mainly based on comparing the Moon of the man with the Moon of the Woman. It is after all, our Moon nature: our emotions, that are key to relationships compatibility.

rama and sitaLet’s look at the Vedic Relationships Astrology System:

Respect: Vedic Astrology first of all declares as a key introduction, whether the flow of your relationship will stimulate mutual respect and, thereby, growth of love.
(Strii Diirgha).

Vedic Astrology then goes on to give a very clear score for the following eight moon-comparison relationship factors (known as the Ashta Kuta system):

  1. Excess: Is there an excess of Kapha, Pitta or Vata between the couple that can prevent us from each from expressing their true self, that would block you from relating to each other in the way that you intend to and wish.
    (Nadi Kuta < 8 points)
  2. Constructivism: Will sacrifices will have to be made in order for your lives to move forwards together in cooperation in the greatest way possible?
    (Bha Kuta < 7 points)
  3. Are you temperamentally compatible? Are both of you are kind, friendly, compassionate, open and devoted people? Or does one or both of you have some radically different temperament? If you both have a similar or compatible temperament you will better be able to relate to each other and better be able to relate to the rest of the world together. You will both strive to see the good in life and be inspired by goodness and the good things in life. When life is hard, you will both be able to find some good in what is happening and through some form of faith or devotion find your way through. Having a similar temperament goes a long way in creating harmony.
    (Gana Kuta < 6 points)
  4. Are you Friends? To what degree are you actually both friends? Or: are you really ‘just friends’?
(Graha Maitram Kuta < 5 points)
  5. Are you instinctively compatible? Each person has an instinctive nature that they rely upon in intense situations when all recourse has left them. This instinctive nature is usually resorted to in crisis situations and in situations when a person has to do something, but does not know what to do. The instinctive nature also comes out to a lesser degree during the more intense aspects of sex. For a couple to go through intense situations harmoniously together and for a couple to bond through intense experiences and sexual experiences, it is important that their instinctive natures be compatible.
    (Yoni Kuta < 4 points)
  6. Comfort: Will the man’s temperament feel comfortable and safe to a women, or it will feel more threatening?
    (Tara Kuta < 3 points)
  7. Innate giving: Innately knowing the other’s needs is so important. Do you need to improve your relationship by improving your ability to communicate your needs to each other? The man may need to learn to ask for his needs to be met clearly and directly, and the woman may need to learn to express her needs by saying how she feels, thereby give the man a chance to fulfill her needs. The more you are able to do this, the more your love for each other will grow.
    (Vasya Kuta < 2 points)
  8. Mutation: Will this relationship will incline you to make positive changes?
    (Varna Kuta < 1 point)

WAVELENGTH: What the astrologer then does is add up each of the scores to these eight questions out of a possible total overall score of 36 points in this Ashta Kuta system. Score below 18 points is not good.

loversWhat do you do next???

Well, next there’s the two beneficial supplements and the two great downfalls:
So:
The astrologer then works out if there’s a shared sense of purpose (Mahendra)
Then the astrologer works out if obstacles can be overcome so that the couple can be together (Vedha dosha)
Next the astrologer works out if the couple is tied to Misfortunes (Rajju Dosha)
Then the astrologer works out if there is magnetic attraction between the couple. But be warned: some forms of magnetic attraction are Fatal Attraction (Read the Bronte novels!)

Mars 4MARS ISSUES: The last remaining point of comparison in Vedic relationship Astrology is mars issues: is there balance of assertive pressure?

If one of the couple is a lot more assertive than the other, it can be disaster (Sylvia Plath put her head in a gas oven because Ted Hughes was so assertive).

Next in Vedic comparison, the astrologer would also take into account the comparison of the Sun and the Ascendant (Lagna) of the couple, and the Vedic chart overall.

Next the Astrologer should take into account the Ashtakavarga score for each House in the couple’s chart, to see if the man will compensate for the woman’s weak areas and vice versa. The Ashtakavarag system is a way of giving strength points to each sign in a person’s birth chart to see how strong or weak that sign will manifest in his/her life.

The astrologer will also look at each of the couple’s predictive astrology to see if both will have a terrible time at the same time!

(and of course there are many other comparison features that a full relationships reading will use).

TOTALLY CRUCIAL NOTE:
For the best relationships report, you must have BOTH western and Vedic Astrology expertly combined:

Wonderful though the declaration by Vedic Astrology is, you do need to bring Western Relationships astrology into the picture as well.

Vedic Relationships Astrology is the more sure and powerful, but it is not enough.

I combine both western and vedic astrology in my expert relationships astrology readings.

You do need to bring in from western astrology the following:
How Chiron the Wounded healer works
How the outer planets that are outside Vedic astrology will operate in the relationship: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
You must also bring in western psychodynamic astrology.
Also western Evolutionary Astrology.

My expert relationship readings do all these things.

Have a look at my Readings website and order a reading today. Here’s the special benefits:
They are worldwide.
There’s expert reports available.
They are recorded.

Find out about your DNA

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

Michael Conneely

I have recently received my DNA Test results from 23andme. The results were quite an eye-opener, and gave me much food for thought.

I only met my father once; I was in my forties. His story started nine years before I was born. He was a fifteen year old boy living in the northern Baltic coast area of Poland called the Danzig Corridor.

Nazi invasion of Poland 1939In 1939 the German Nazi invasion happened out of the blue with no declaration of war – and his world was destroyed forever.

From the fields where he was working that day, he saw his village devastated and relatives murdered and he fled along the road harried by German planes that were machine-gunning the refugees flooding to Danzig.

There he joined General Sikorski’s Polish army in exile. He then made it to Norway and was taken by British Destroyer to Scotland where he served on an East Anglian RAF base. He never saw his family again.

connemara peasantsMy mother came from a family of thirteen whose generations had lived for centuries farming and fishing in a very remote part of Connemara in the West of Ireland.

Many of them had emigrated to the USA and some to England.

She herself came to East Anglia to be a Land Army Girl after the end of World War II.

So I expected my DNA results to be half-Polish, half Irish.

But not so simple!

The 23andme result was that on my father’s side I am largely ‘Eastern European’, but I was totally amazed, indeed, I felt pretty shocked almost to be told there is a lot of Ashkenazi Jewish blood in me.
The Ashkenazi Jews fled from the Islamic invasion of Jerusalem that led to the Crusades in the 12th Century, and they were the people Hitler sought to exterminate.
23andme also said I have some German DNA.

yakut shaman 2But I was most interested to hear I also have the blood of Yakut tribesmen.

This remote ancient people followed a shamanic life-style, living by hunting and fishing on the Northern polar coastline of Siberia, where they were in more modern times very persecuted by the Russian Tsars who imposed ‘fur tax’.

And, last but not least: I’m 3% Neanderthal (so don’t upset me!)

My Polish father told me that his mother read the Runes and did prediction, and today I teach shamanism continuing my Yakut tribesman heredity!

On my mother’s side, 23andme found I was mostly Irish: no surprises there; I knew that of course>

Ancient Irish skull with Balkan DNA

Ancient Irish skull with Balkan DNA

But was really knocked out and amazed to be told of Balkan DNA there too.

I just wondered if this Balkan DNA comes in because a lot of the people occupying Ireland in the Bronze Age and the Iron Age came from the Balkan Area, just like the Invasion histories describe as semi-mythological memories for the Tuatha de Danaan and the Fir Bolg???

Indeed I teach the Irish Druid Path and The Ogham (the Celtic tree alphabet of the ancient Irish Druids)

Were people incredibly mobile, heading out of the Mediterranean via Spain, in the times 3000 and 5000 years ago?

I have heard of Black Sea area DNA being found in bodies on archaeological sites in Ireland recently.

My Irish mother told me that her mother did tea leaves and some marriage-arranging. And I myself do Tarot and astrology readings all over the world.

It is crucial for people to find my websites because I do all my astrology readings worldwide and I also teach courses on all continents.

So, if your spiritual or healing practice is similar, I’d urge you to consider the benefits of asking my webmaster Robert Williams to promote your work.

I simply don’t have the skills or knowledge to do this crucial IT work myself, and if I tried to do it, my attention to my main work would suffer disastrously.

You get nowhere in the sector of worldwide healings and readings these days, unless you have good ‘Search Engine Optimisation’.

robert graphRobert Williams has managed mine for me for a year now, and the number of hits on my websites has increased immensely – enormously. It’s a highly technical and totally necessary skill that I know nothing about.

I rely for promoting my work on people seeing my WordPress Blog. Robert Williams arranged that my ‘starwheel’ Blog, automatically posts to my Face Book business page, with the result that so many, many more people now subscribe to it.

And I also get a lot of my work through my YouTube Videos. Robert Williams reworded the posts for each of these so that they could be found by search engines much more easily.

In fact Robert has also set up an entire ‘Shopify’ website for me, so that all my courses and readings are now displayed in one place, together with good connection to Face Book and twitter.

Robert himself has a deep commitment, himself, to healing and spiritual pathways, so he understands deeply the area of life that he is promoting, and he really cares about the importance of this work.

So, if you want your practice to flourish, I would sincerely say that you need Robert Williams’s expert help.
